Sungkyunkwan University's Software Convergence University holds Hackathon and Convergence Security Council in 2023
□ Sungkyunkwan University (President Yoo Ji-beom), SW Convergence University (President Lee Eun-seok), and Convergence Security Track (Professor Kim Hyung-sik) held the Hackathon and Convergence Security Council in 2023 at the 1st Comprehensive Research Building of Sungkyunkwan University Natural Science Campus in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, for two days on August 24 (Thu) and 25 (Thu) and 25 (Fri).
□ Thirty-one students from 13 teams participated in the hackathon event, which was held in the form of CTF to compete for hacking skills among participants, and students from other universities such as Seoul Women's University, Konkuk University, and Ajou University participated. CTF is short for Capture The Flag, and is a hacking competition that scores when you find vulnerabilities in programs, web pages, etc. or if you find hidden answers by decrypting them.
□ On the 24th, the first day, following the greeting of Professor Kim Hyung-sik, the head of the convergence security track, three tutorial sessions were held: hardware support software security (Professor Lee Ho-joon), blockchain and smart contract (Professor Hwang Sung-jae), and AI-based program analysis (Professor Koo Hyung-joon). Participants who gained the necessary knowledge through the tutorial session solved problems prepared by professors of the Graduate School of Convergence Security using various hacking techniques from the afternoon to the morning of the next day.
□ At the awards ceremony held on the morning of the 25th, SSLAB (Kim Jae-yoon, Kim Sung-soo, and Lee Jang-yeop) won the grand prize (1 team), while the excellence (2 teams) were 23 freshmen (Kim Jin-moo), Team 23 (Kwon Yoo-jung, Jeon Hyung-joon), Yoo (4 teams), Las Vegas (Lee Ki-ho, Park Sun-hye, Park Sun-hye), Jin-ja (Sei, Baek Hee-won, Kim Tae-Won, and Sung-Hwan University) and SoftSec(Min Gyeong Hwan, Um Ha Eun)(Sungkyunkwan University) and Udangdangtang (Lee Song-ha/Seoul Women's Univ. Song Hyun-Jun/Konkuk Univ., Lee Eung-Chang/Ajou Univ.)
□ Professor Kim Hyung-sik, who oversaw the event, said, "In order to compete and win first place, we wanted to create a competition where we participate in the event and immerse ourselves in the problem."
□ Following the hackathon event, the Convergence Security Council was held in the second half of 2023. The Convergence Security Council is a place where companies participating as members of Sungkyunkwan University's SW Convergence Security Track regularly gather to share major trends in the convergence security field and seek ways to revitalize industry-academic cooperation.
□ Sungkyunkwan University's SW Convergence University Convergence Security Track is a graduate course operated with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT (Korea Internet Promotion Agency, Information and Communication Planning and Evaluation Agency). It was selected as a project in 2020 and marks its fourth year this year, and Sungkyunkwan University is training convergence security talents specialized in digital healthcare in connection with healthcare, a strategic industry in Gyeonggi-do.
